LMG Marin is one of Europe's leading naval architect and ship design houses, with a highly dedicated organization of skilled engineers and naval architects – equipped with state of the art software ship design tools. Naval Architect

The position as Naval Architect provides opportunities to work with development and verification of a wide variety of concepts and designs, as demonstrated by the project references shown on the LMG Marin website.

Typical focus areas of experience include the following:

  • Naval Architectural/Marine Engineering background
  • Experience with NAPA software for intact and damaged vessel stability, including probabilistic calculations
  • Production of preliminary and final stability documentation
  • Production of associated documentation such as lines plans, tanks/capacity plans, watertight integrity plans, freeboard plans and calculations, tonnage calculations etc.
  • Good knowledge of relevant classification society, flag state/statutory regulations
  • Participation in the team development of new vessel concepts and the improvement of existing designs including hull form optimization
  • Experience with Autocad is a prerequisite
  • Experience with Shape Maker, Rhinoceros, Veres, ShipX is an advantage
  • Experience with inclining test planning and execution an advantage
  • Experience with follow-up of model testing also an advantage

We are interested in candidates who can work as part of our engineering teams but also with a large degree of independence at times. Candidate should be willing and able to quickly adapt new skills and knowledge when required and should have the ability to actively utilize their knowledge of naval architectural and stability matters in project design and decision-making processes.

Structural Designer

The position as structural designer provides a unique opportunity to work with ship structural concepts from early development stage, through Class approval, detailed design- and building support. For this position we seek a person with well-established understanding of marine structural design. The position will be part of our team responsible for defining structural concepts and verifying them according to applicable rules & regulations.

The qualities we are targeting include:

  • Knowledge of and ability to define ship hull structural concepts
  • Global/local structural strength calculations/analysis
  • Knowledge of Class and statutory rules, design code methodology
  • Verification and code checking of proposed ship hull structures
  • Experience with or willingness to learn AutoCAD is required
  • Experience with analysis of ship structures considered advantageous (using ANSYS and/or DNVGL SESAM)
  • Evaluation and suggestion of structural optimization/weight saving possibilities
  • Production of structural analysis/strength check reports
  • Presentation of results for discussion

We are interested in candidates who can work as part of our project teams but also with a large degree of independence at times. Ability to maintain direct contact with and cooperation with clients and Class is also of particular importance.

Senior Electrical Designer

With the gradually increasing introduction of low- and zero emission requirements for ships, electrical and automation systems have become increasingly important in the ship design process. With this in mind LMG Marin wish to strengthen our EIT team.

The position as Senior Electrical Designer provides a unique opportunity to work with a wide variety of ship electrical system concept developments, including diesel-electric, battery hybrid, pure battery electric or even hydrogen electric designs. Such developments will require close work internally within our design team as well as interaction with clients and system equipment suppliers.

The qualities we are targeting include:

  • A genuine interest in the development of ship electric concepts based on state of the art solutions and latest emerging technologies
  • Use of AutoCAD is to be expected
  • Ability to design and specify energy efficient electrical plants, including propulsion-, hotel- and auxiliary systems
  • Ability to dimension and integrate power battery and shore charging systems in close dialogue with product/system suppliers
  • Willingness to actively engage with suppliers and stay updated on latest technologies available
  • Multi-discipline understanding applied to conceptual design
  • Production of basic design and main class electrical documentation including single line diagrams, electric load lists etc.
  • Additional experience with electrical safety activities such as FMEA, Cause &Effect diagrams, battery safety evaluations etc. are preferred
  • Use of AutoCAD is to be expected
