New contract! Major RoPax contract for CMAL

ferge

LMG Marin will provide Cemre Shipyard with full basic design package services for a new pair of innovative Ropax for the Kennacraig – Port Askaig route serving Islay Island.

The new ferries will replace veteran ferry MV Hebridean Isles and allow to cascade Finlagan elsewhere on Calmac ferry network.

The fleet renewal process started in September 2019 when naValue was appointed for designing the concept of next generation Islay Ropax in partnership with the owner. In June 2021 the concept was ready for tender.

The new ferries will bring capacity increase as well as emission reduction technologies for the benefit of its owner, its users as well as the local economy while reducing substantially the carbon footprint compared to existing vessels.

It is an honor for LMG Marin to be involved in Calmac fleet renewal program and we look forward to the continued partnership with Cemre shipyard on this exciting project.

LMG Marin confirms its leadership on this segment which has always been a core market for the company. Lifeline ferries prove to be perfect testbeds for innovation and LMG Marin ambition is to offer operators the best possible designs that fit their demanding operations as well as the need for more sustainable ferries.
